Book sale

The Friends of the Clarkston Independence District Library will be holding a children’s used book sale next Monday, July 24, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. in the CIDL parking lot, 6495 Clarkston Road. Many books at the sale are $1 and under. For more information, call 248-625-2212.

Optifest

The Clarkston Area Optimist Club is hosting Back to School Optifest on Aug. 5, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., from Renaissance High School, 6558 Waldon Road. No admission fee, and the event will feature DJ entertainment, a bicycle safety clinic, games, bounce houses, hot dogs and brats, and a pie eating contest.
