Firefighters help with hurricane

Three Independence Township firefighters traveled to Florida, Monday, as part of a Michigan task force to help the area recover after Hurricane Irma.
“Lieutenant Ross Green, Engineer Carrie Erbe, and Engineer David Karakuc are undoubtedly excited for this assignment to help with the rescue efforts that will commence after the storm passes through,” said said Fire Chief Mitch Petterson. “Please keep them and all of the other responders in your thoughts and let’s wish them all a safe return home.”
“When the going gets tough, the tough get going,” said township Supervisor Pat Kittle. “I am extremely proud of all the men and women who serve the residents of Independence Township, especially those first responders who have volunteered to help the needy in Florida.”
