Girls softball hopes for smashing season

Girls hit the mound this week to repeat their success from last year.
A goal for girls varsity softball is to win districts again. Last year the team took first place at districts for the first time in three years. They lost to Birmingham Seaholm by one point in their regional game, 4-3.
It ended their season with an overall record, 23-14.
‘They look good,? said Clarkston coach Don Peters, returning for his fourth year as head coach.
Most of the team has returned from last season, with a few new faces to round the team off to thirteen.
The returning players include senior Katie Smith. Last year, she was named All-State by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association. During her last season she batted .382 with 40 runs and had 18 RBIs.
Sophomore Taylor Hasselback is back for the season as well. Last year she hit .546 and had 63 RBIs.
Also returning are Kelley Anderson, Bailee Braunreuther, Brook Chadwell, Jenny Jochum, Shantel Uballe, Lindsey Upchurch and Kara Wandrie.
New to the team are Sarah Altene, Amanda Martin, Allie Reeves and Elizabeth Zezula.
Besides, going as far as they can in playoffs, Peters’s goals for the team this year include, ‘winning lots of games and having fun.?
Clarkston softballers will host the 16th Annual Michigan Stars Tournament.
The tournament will take place the first weekend of May at Liberty Park in Sterling Heights.
Teams from 48 high schools will coming from all over Michigan to play.

The girls? season opener was Monday against Berkley. In the double header, the team won both games, 11-1, 12-1.
The girls continued on Tuesday with another double header, this time against Grand Blanc.
Wednesday they host Farmington at 4 p.m.
