High hopes for league

Tecumseh won Clarkston’s Michigan Stars softball tournament over the weekend.
‘Our tournament was very successful,? said coach Don Peters.
Forty-eight teams came to play at the event hosted by Clarkston. The Wolves had their own success. They won two of the five games they played during the weekend.
‘It was up and down. We could do better. We could play like we did during Macomb Dakota,? said Peters.
They lost to Macomb Dakota, 1-0. The girls won against Cranbrook (21-0) and Romeo (4-3). They lost to Trenton (4-3), Alma (10-2) and Macomb Dakota (1-0).
Sarah Altene and Uballe each pitched a winning game.
Leading hitters for the weekend were Taylor Hasselbach, Shantel Uballe, Kara Wandrie and Lindsay Upchurch.
Hasselbach hit 5-for-8 and had five runs, four home runs, and 10 RBIs. Uballe hit 9-for-15, two home runs and had four RBIs. Wandrie hit 3-for-6, had five runs and two RBIs. Upchurch 5-for-9, four runs, and one RBI.
Before the weekend tournament, the girls beat Waterford Kettering in both double header games.
They scored 12-7 in the first game, and 15-2 in the second.
This week they play league games against Lake Orion and Troy.
‘We could come out league champs or in third place,? said Peters going against the two schools.
They played Lake Orion on Tuesday and will play at Troy on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The girls travel to play in the St. Clair tournament on Saturday. They will play Clio, Port Huron, and St. Clair. They host Stoney Creek on Monday. The first pitch goes out at 4 p.m.
Overall record is 15-11.
