AVINGTON PARK
CONDOMINUIM SUBDIVISION
PRIVATE ROAD IMPROVEMENT SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The Charter Township of Independence (“Township”) has received a petition requesting a special assessment district for improvements to the following private roads in the Avington Park Condominium Subdivision in the Township: Avington Parkway, Avington Court, Rosebud Lane, Boulderwood Ridge Drive, and Forest Valley Drive within the borders of the condominium subdivision (the “Road Improvement Project”). The Road Improvement Project is intended to provide special benefits to the properties identified in this Notice, which properties together constitute the “Special Assessment District.” On August 25, 2015, the Township Board of Trustees held an initial public hearing and approved the petitions, Road Improvement Project and Special Assessment District. As directed by the Township Board, a special assessment roll has now been prepared and reported to the Township Board, which roll sets forth each parcel, the names of the respective record owners of each parcel, if known, and the total amount to be assessed for the Road Improvement Project against each parcel of land identified as part of the Special Assessment District. The plans, cost estimates and proposed special assessment roll are on file in the Township Clerk’s Office (6483 Waldon Center Drive, Independence Township, Michigan) and available for public inspection during normal Township business hours.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that at 7:00 p.m. on June 7, 2016, the Township Board of Trustees shall meet at the Township Hall, located at 6483 Waldon Center Drive, Independence Township, Michigan, for the purpose of reviewing and hearing any objections by any interested person to the proposed special assessment roll. Appearance and protest at this meeting is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the State Tax Tribunal. An owner or party in interest, or his or her agent, may appear in person at the hearing to protest, or shall be permitted to file his or her appearance or protest by letter at or before the close of the hearing and his or her personal appearance in such case shall not be required.
