Ladies ready to take on Lake Orion

Lady Cagers finish their regular season this week with a chance to boost themselves into a higher position in OAA Red action.
The girls split their two home games last week with a win over Troy and a loss to North Farmington.
‘We played a pretty good game against Troy,? said Coach Tim Wasilk. ‘We played a pretty good floor play and shot the ball pretty well. They were on the hunt for first place in the OAA White.?
Mikaela Parrish led team in the 45-34 victory over the Lady Colts. She scored 18 points in the game.
Kaleigh Kenny added 14 points and had 13 rebounds. The girls kept equal with the Colts and went into half-time tied at 18 points.
Clarkston kept their defense up and kept Troy down to 16 points while they scored 27 on the home team.
The girls finished the week against North Farmington and lost, 39-36.
‘I thought we put ourselves in a good position to win tonight. The other team were on the hunt to take first place in our league,? said Wasilk. ‘We put ourselves in a nice position to win and had a nice floor play. Our girls just have to take the next step and believe we belong with teams like this. I know if we make a shot there, make a play there it turns into a different ball game. I was happy with us being in position.?
Kenny started the game off with scoring four baskets in the first quarter. With help from Parrish, the girls kept even with North Farmington.
The girls began the second quarter with the lead from a basket from Parrish and two 3-point shots from Erica Harris.
They fought against North Farmington’s presses to hold onto the lead until the end of the third quarter.
Kenny led in the game with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
‘She has relaxed a little bit and has let the game come to her a little bit more,? said Wasilk. ‘She is not putting so much pressure on herself if the shot goes in or not, which we have stressed to all the girls.?
Harris added eight points to the game.
The girls played West Bloomfield on Tuesday.
‘West Bloomfield is always tough place to play, but we got them the first time,? said Wasilk.
The girls finish the regular season hosting Pontiac Northern on Friday.
‘They are pretty talented,? said Wasilk. ‘It will be a good game for us to get ready to get into districts on Monday. Both games this week will be really good for league play and our confidence.?
