Letters to the Editor

Trustee appreciates voters’ support

Dear Editor,
I would like to sincerely thank the residents of Independence Township for re-electing me to the Board of Trustees.
The previous four years have been very rewarding. I’ve had a chance to meet well over a thousand wonderful people in this fine community.
Helping to institute sound conservative policies that benefit Independence has been my commitment, and my pleasure.
When I go door-to door to hear your questions, comments, or concerns, I’m always treated with respect, and I try my hardest to address your feedback to the Board, and develop solutions. And when I saw I was blessed to be the top vote-getter in 12 out of 13 precincts, I was humbled my hard work was so appreciated.
I truly look forward to continue serving the residents of Independence, the best township in Michigan.
A special shout out to our whole Great Lakes state for voting “red” for the first time since 1988. Well played!
Very best regards,
Jose Aliaga
Independence Township trustee

Thanks for community art inspiration

Dear Editor,
On behalf of the PTA of Springfield Plains Elementary, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful business and volunteers that made our first annual Art Inspiration event a huge success.
Leanna of Picasso’s Grapevine;
Artist Denyse Loveless Couture;
Nancy of Once Upon A Puppet;
Anna Lysa of Anna Lysa Photography;
Don Rush from The Clarkston News;
Scott and Kevin from Independence Television;
Bekah and Caitlin of Forte Academy of Dance;
April from McCourt’s Musical Instruments; and Sara Sanger from Clarkston Cultural Arts.
It is because of their generous donation of time and artistic talents we had 77 children explore music, art, film, dance, photography and writing. We also want to thank the other sibling and parent volunteers for their support.
Students are encouraged to take another step in their art journey and enter the National PTA Reflections contest.
The PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student art recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home.
Sincerely,
Kelly Hyer
SPE PTA Reflections Committee
