News in Brief

Clarkston Road work

City DPW placed and graded 12 yards of 21AA stone in the usually flooded low spot on Clarkston Road, just east of Main Street, but the measure is only a stop-gap, said City Manager Jonathan Smith.
“It was a temporary step to allow people to get through there,” Smith said.
This work was reviewed and approved by the Road Commission of Oakland County, he said.
A permanent fix would include relocating a telephone pole and utilities box, and probably widening Clarkston Road, Smith said.
“It’s a complex intersection, there’s a lot going on there,” he said.
The city is also looking to repair crumbling pavement at Main Street and Waldon Road, he said.
