Street light cost

Clarkston City Council voted unanimously, Sept. 10, to approve a budget amendment to transfer $14,092.41 from miscellaneous income to street light maintenance, for the repair of a light pole destroyed by a truck on Main Street just north of Waldon Road this past April.
Insurance from the Michigan Municipal League covered all of it except a $250 deductible.
City Manager Jonathan Smith said the high cost was because the model of light pole is no longer in production, so it had to be manufactured.
“Maybe we should look at the next closest thing,” said Council member Sharron Catallo. “This is very expensive.”
