Many make a difference in Clarkston schools. A few were honored with nominations for the Difference Maker Award by the Board of Education, May 8.
Honored were Anne Martinez, fifth grade teacher at Bailey Lake Elementary; Karen Postal, secretary at Springfield Plains Elementary; Adam Kern, principal of Clarkston Junior High School; and Lynn Englehart, English teacher at Clarkston High School.
The Michigan Education Association Friend of Education award was also presented to Mary Herzenstiel, a community parent who has worked throughout the school district and was very active in the bond initiative.
“She’s helped and jumped into a number of different initiatives over the years and I haven’t really heard her say ‘no’ yet, so I hope she doesn’t develop that skill any time soon and we look forward to continuing to work with you as your kids still have a ways to go. We appreciate everything you’ve done to help our community really as a whole and that’s certainly commendable and thank you for all your efforts,” said board President Steve Hyer.
