The Amber Butterfly

Goodrich- It was resident Sandy Gallaher’s aspiration to offer unique and personalized items to the people in her community that inspired her to take her business, The Amber Butterfly, to craft shows for the last five years.
Now, with the official launch of her company’s website slated for Aug. 1, she’s ready to go global.
‘I’ve always been crafty. I love to sew, make jewelry, paint’you name it. I love putting things together and making it unique and different,? said Gallaher.
Gallaher said the idea to launch the website came in response to the requests of her customers.
‘People would always tell me how much they enjoyed my things and would suggest getting a web site. So, after about two years, I decided to give it a try. After a lot of hard work and help from my family, The Amber Butterfly (website) was born.?
The site features jewelry, kids clothing, home products, specialty gifts, purses and a special section for young girls entitled ‘For the Princess.?
‘I have a lot of different items with various departments (on the site)…But I specialize in custom orders. They’re a lot of fun,? said Gallaher.
That aspect of personalization is evident in Gallaher’s embroidery, which is the focus of much of her work.
‘My first love is embroidery. I love to create special designs, especially for gifts,? said Gallaher.
For Gallaher, the business has become a family affair. Daughter Kendra, 12, is her trusty assistant in this venture, and Gallaher’s mother makes some of the jewelry featured on the site.
Additionally, the website has provided Gallaher with an opportunity to give to some of the people she feels are most in need of a helping hand.
‘I plan to donate a percentage of my sales to (some favorite charities). For example; (with) handbag sales, a percentage will go to women’s breast cancer research.? said Gallaher.
Gallaher said a percentage of sales from jewelry will benefit people with multiple sclerosis, and baby and child items sold will benefit juvenile diabetes research.
For the moment, Gallaher anticipates the official launch of her site.
‘I think there’s something in there for everyone.?
