Fireworks? group wraps up fundraisers

The grand finale of fundraising takes place on June 29, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday. The Lake Orion Fireworks Association is hosting a brunch at the Lake Orion Boat Club, located on an island near Heights Road.
The cost is $10/person. Other events include a silent auction, face painting and a boat wash for $10.
People needing a ride to the island can call the boat club at 248-693-2900. Some parking spots are available at the club’s lot on Heights Road.
Rides will be available from 10 a.m.-noon.
According to Carl Cyrowski, who spearheads the fundraiser, numerous people have volunteered their time for the event, including Nick Christi and his son, who are manning the cooking grill.
Cyrowski said various fundraisers and donations over the past several months total close to $20,000, two thirds of the association’s goal.
Between 200 and 300 envelopes mailed out in Sherman Publication’s Ad-Vertiser and The Lake Orion Review were returned to the association with an average amount of $20.
