25 years ago – 1996
“Trading places” Clarkston High School students visited Detroit’s Western International High School as part of a New Detroit Multicultural Student Exchange Program. The students from Detroit sampled CHS on Dec. 10.
“Littlest angels” Preschoolers from Clarkston Community Education’s Funshine program entertained parents with Christmas songs and other tunes during a winter concert held Dec. 17 at North Sashabaw Elementary.
“Wrestlers take third at county” It came down to the last match of the night between Wolf Scott Labrie and Walled Lake Central’s Derek Vos. After it was done, Clarkston Varsity Wrestling finished the Oakland County meet with 176 points to finish in third place and Walled Lake Central finished as champion with 185.5 points.

50 years ago – 1971
“Students help each other” Nineteen ninth graders from Clarkston Junior High School in the Cross-Age Helpers program were helping students at Clarkston Elementary School to learn.
“Wolves drop Bay City, pick up Kettering” A win and a loss in Clarkston cage action brought the varsity boys basketball record to 3-1. They lost to Bay City Central, 72-58. They got to a quick start in a 67-61 victory over Waterford Kettering and recorded their first Wayne-Oakland League win.
“Around the township” Mr. and Mrs. Randy Orr of Gibbs Road welcomed their first child, daughter Danielle on Nov. 24, weighing seven pounds and seven ounces.

75 years ago – 1946
“Santa Claus visits Clarkston on Christmas Eve” A large number of Clarkston residents gathered in front of Township Hall to enjoy the Christmas tree and the visit from Santa Claus sponsored by the Clarkston Rotary Club.
“Cubs have party” The Cub Pack of Troop 52 held their regular meeting and enjoyed a Christmas party Monday evening at the school auditorium. During the party, they played games, exchanged gifts and had refreshments.
“Clarkston locals” Guests who arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Weston to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Gador of Clarkston Station, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Terry of Pontiac and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Miller of Wisconsin.
