25 years ago – 1997
Parke Lake yields a piece of local history: A piece of the colorful past of Clarkston history may have resurfaced. Richard Niethammer, a White Lake diver, found an old buggy in Parke Lake. Working with the Clarkston Community Historical Society, Niethammer and volunteers raised the buggy – in pieces. It was a small one-horse, one-seater of uncertain vintage found in 25-30 feet of water.

50 years ago – 1972
Around the township: King and Jan Robinson and daughter, Heather, were enjoying their new Clarkston home on Peach Drive. Since their arrival on June 17, they had been busy trimming, mowing and painting. Jan boasted having the brightest red carriage lamp in town. After all their hard work, the Charlie Robinson’s gave them a breather by taking them to the Old Steak House Windsor to celebrate Jan’s birthday.

75 years ago – 1947
Local boys to be heard on the radio: The All State Band at Interlochen was set to play over the Michigan State college radio station on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Among the members of the band were David Leak of Clarkston and Richard Allen and Tony Siegman of Waterford. In 4-H Club news, Honorah Bilbey and Evelyn McCrum of Clarkston won the county 4-H judging contest held on Friday, July 18 in Pontiac. They were to represent Oakland County at the district 4-H judging contest in August. It was the second year McCrum had represented Oakland County in the judging contests.
