25 years ago – 1997
Clarkston honors its best: A full house packed Clarkston Creek celebrated the annual Community Awards Breakfast, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Awards given out included Bud and Glenita Olafsson for beautification; Dr. Thomas Stone, community preservation; Sally Hadden, adult youth volunteer; Stephen Hyer, Jr., young person of the year; Marc Cooper, business person of the year; and Dorothy and Jack Nicol, citizens of the year.

50 Years ago – 1972
Headed out: Almost graduates Mike Coates, Karen Sharp, Cindy Palmer, Don McArthur and Pam Smith tried out their caps and gowns on Thursday in anticipation of Commencement ceremonies on June 3. The quintet are part of a class of 377 due to get diplomas.

75 Years ago – 1947
Two vacancies on school board: Not only was the school year drawing to a close in Clarkston, but the terms of two trustees, Elmer Pettengill and Orlo Willoughby would expire. Under the current system in use in Clarkston, the positions must be filled by an election to decide what candidates will fill the offices for the next three years.
