Anniversary No. 60 approaching for local couple

Local couple Patricia and Terrance Evans celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this Thursday, August 26.
The Michigan State University graduates married in East Lansing on August 26, 1961.
They missed their first anniversary dinner when Pat was rushed to the hospital to deliver their son Mike at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing on August 26, 1962.
In 1963, they moved to New Orleans for a short period when Terry was hired by Chrysler Missile to work as a production supervisor for the completion of the Mercury Redstone Rocket. Then in 1973, they moved Mike and daughter Kara to Clarkston to get away from the metro development of the Detroit suburbs and provide their children a childhood based in a more rural setting.
Terry worked as a Chrysler executive for most of his career, and Pat worked as a special education teacher at Clarkston Junior High School for more than 20 years.
They have two grandchildren who also live in Clarkston and have enjoyed playing a major role in their upbringing.
Pat and Terry have made many lifelong friends and have fond memories of Clarkston, still residing at their original address.
What is the secret to 60 years of marriage? The couple said it’s because “we allowed each other to grow and change while sharing and fulfilling together our goals and dreams.”
