Athletes of the Week: Signing for future success

Clarkston celebrated 19 athletes as they shared their future plans by signing their National Letters of Intent in front of family and friends during the Spring Signing, May 8.

For fall sports, Jacob Burkett, tennis, Hope College; Elizabeth Dalrymple, cross country and track, Wayne State University; Jacob Honstetter, football, Michigan Technological University; Logan Knowlson, tennis, Ohio Northern University; Tristan Mattson, football, Arkansas State University; Max Mengyan, football, Alma College; Haley Stewart, volleyball, Oakland Community College; Briggs Tedder, football, Alma College; and Matthew Vassilakos, swim, Wayne State University.
For winter sports, Conor Donahue, wrestling, Lake Erie College; Mac Hanselman, wrestling, Rochester College; Devin Trevino, wrestling, University of Findlay; and Cole Wiegers, wrestling, Adrian College.
For spring sports, Harry Bowman, golf, Madonna University; Eric Csizmadia, lacrosse, Siena Heights University; Keturah Delcamp, soccer, Cornerstone University; Allie Eriksen, track, Wayne State University; Keagan King, lacrosse, Davenport University; and Elizabeth Oda, lacrosse, Carthage College.
“I love this day,” said Jeff Kosin, athletic director. “Thank you for what you have done for Clarkston. You didn’t wake up one morning and say I am going to be a Division 1 or Division 2 college athlete tomorrow. It didn’t happen over night.”
“These kids have a different mentality – one more – one more practice, one more lap, one more shot, one more kick. The one more paid off.”
He added it is a time to celebrate the athletes successes as well as parents, guardians, coaches and teammates who helped them along the way.
