Backyard Birders Club hopes for spring

The arrival of spring, late it may be, will be the topic of April’s Clarkston-area Backyard Birders Club meeting.
“April and May are prime months for birders,” says Bob McGowan, founder and president. “Our members have their sharp eyes out to welcome back our resident songbirds as well as to catch sights of migrating waterfowls and other species stopping over as they fly to their northern breeding grounds.”
The club will meet Wednesday, April 25, 7 p.m., in the atrium of The Gateway.
The meeting will feature reports on sightings, activities, and events for birders and outdoors people.
There will also be an update on an upcoming field trip to Pointe Pelee in Ontario in early May.
Meetings are free and open to the public.
“Coffee and cookies will be provided, compliments of our members A.J. O’Neil, owner of Detroit Bold Coffee Company, and Carole Bodner, respectively,” McGowan said. “Our host at The Gateway, Steve Stroud, has donated a door prize, as has our member Jim Melosche from his personal library of classic birder books.”
