Boy Scout Jon Wasiel led a project to refurbish 32 bicycles for children in Detroit for his Eagle Scout project.
A scout with Troop 189, Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarkston, his project benefitted Cesar Chavez Academy in Detroit, with the assistance of Zach Dotson at American Cycle and Fitness in Pontiac and other volunteers.
He attained the rank of Eagle Scout on March 23.
Wasiel is a senior at Clarkston High School.  He started scouting in first grade as a Tiger Cub with Pack 133 at Andersonville Elementary.
He plans to remain active in scouts and recently finished his second trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, New Mexico.  At Philmont, the Eagle Scout hiked over 85 miles in the wilderness for 12 days with some of his best friends. Together, he and the rest of his crew had the awesome experience of summiting Mt. Baldy, elevation 12,441 feet.
