Book signing with long-time teacher

Former Clarkston teacher Sherril Bailey is looking forward to reminiscing with former students and colleagues, and meeting readers young and old while signing her new book, 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, at Clarkston Independence District Library.
Her book, “Reminiscences of a Feisty, Gutsy, Fiercely Independent, Opinionated, Outspoken, Fun-Loving, Better than Average Looking, Single, Never Found Mr. Right, But Willing to Consider Marriage, Loving, and Giving 69-Year-Old Educator and Volunteer Dowager Aunt,” illustrates how she encouraged students to reach for the stars, and teachers as well. One story from the book is about how a student gave her the strength to overcome a stroke she suffered in 1996 while teaching at Bailey Lake Elementary.
“I can lift other people up,” she said. “Mind you, I was told I’d never teach again, that I’d never walk again.”
She started teaching at BLE in 1969, and also taught at Clarkston Elementary and in Monterrey, Mexico.
