Book signing

Springfield Township Library hosts a talk and book signing by Greg Sumner from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Sumner, author and University of Detroit-Mercy history professor, tells the story of 6,000 German and Italian war prisoners in Michigan. During World War II, they picked fruit in Berrien County, harvested sugar beets in the Thumb, cut pulpwood in the Upper Peninsula, and maintained parks in Detroit.
The author’s books will be available for $20 at the library event at 12000 Davisburg Road, sponsored by the Friends of the Springfield Township Library. Admission is free and open to all. No registration necessary.
