‘Bored? vandals sentenced to probation, restitution

Two Brandon Township men who damaged multiple vehicles because they were ‘bored? last summer have been sentenced to probation and will pay restitution to the vehicle owners.
Tom Shahin, 19, was sentenced to 24 months of probation, and ordered to pay restitution, on Jan. 12 in front of Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Rae Lee Chabot. Max Gerber, also 19, was sentenced on Jan. 26 by Chabot to 18 months of probation and was ordered to pay restitution. Under the Holmes Youthful Training Act, if he successfully completes probation, his record will be wiped clean.
Detective Dale Brown of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Brandon substation said the two were responsible for an Aug. 17 crime spree on Mill Street in which they damaged four vehicles parked at three different residences.
The pair are believed to have used a knife or screwdriver to gouge the vehicles, resulting in nearly $8,000 in damages, and told Brown they did it because they were ‘bored.?
