Brandon Twp.- A fire that began in the loft area of a barn at the corner of Davison Lake Road and Hollyhock Road is under investigation.
The barn’s owner was at a neighborhood party around 3 a.m. May 29 when he saw smoke coming from his barn down the road. He attempted to hold it in check while waiting for the Brandon Fire Department to arrive.
Firefighters were able to get inside and put the fire out without much damage being sustained. Brandon Fire Chief Bob McArthur reported burnt floor boards and about $2,000 worth of content damaged, but said structurally, the barn was intact.
The fire is considered suspicious at this time and is being investigated by Oakland County Sheriff’s Detective James Lehtola.
‘It’s a really old barn, but in excellent condition,? McArthur said. ‘We were fortunate to save it.?
