Cagers collapse Colts

Two more wins should help solidify Clarkston cagers? number one ranking in OAA I.
The Wolves beat Macomb Dakota, 56-38, and Troy, 61-38, bringing their overall record, 14-2.
‘I expected a very competitive game,? said Fife
‘They (Colts) do a great job in there. We knew it was going to be physical. Their kids are aggressive and this is a big game for them to play us. I know they look forward to this game and the coach does a good job.?
Oliver Kupe and Julius Porter jumpstarted the first quarter of the game, but Troy kept them on their toes, turning over the ball and keeping the score close. As the seconds counted down in the first quarter, they were tied at 13 each. Kupe bounced the ball off the rim, but was there for the rebound. He caught it and put it through, ending the quarter 15-13.
Kupe scored 10 points in the first quarter and Porter added five.
Colts continued to remain close, but by the time the first half ended, Clarkston led by eight points.
With the lead, they were able to give themselves breathing room.
‘I think it really helped us out a lot,? said Fife.
They opened the gap, ending the game 23 points ahead.
Clarkston’s top four scorers were in double digits at the end of the game: Oliver Kupe, 14; Julius Porter, 13; Matt Kamieniecki, 12; and Brandon Pokley 11.
High scorers from Troy were Jason Wise (10), Larry Lindsey (7), and Drew Fairless (6).
‘We are in the last part of our season, so any game we play will be a big game for us,? said Fife.
Clarkston has four games left in the regular season, with two games this week, Thursday against Southfield-Lathrup, Friday against Utica.
The JV team will begin at 5:30 p.m. with Varsity following.
