Cheer team heads to district meet

The Clarkston Varsity Competitive Cheer team finished the regular season with a second place finish at the Brandon Cheer Invitational on Saturday.
After competing in three rounds, they received a total score of 660.88 to solidify a second place finish. The team also won the Judges choice award for best facial expressions.
At the conclusion of the competition there were individual events. Of the nine teams competing, each one sent a representative for each event.
Team member Danielle Norrito was chosen to compete for Clarkston in the handstand contest in which she was able to win first place by staying in a handstand longer than any other competitor.
Team members Savannah McCue, Ashley Campbell, Jacquelyn Williams, Jersey McCullough and Sydnee Hubert-McLennan were chosen to compete in the lib war contest, where the flyer stands on one leg and holds the position while the bases hold her up in an extension. They received first place by holding this position longer than any other stunt group.
The Wolves head to the MHSAA Division 1 District 6 meet this Saturday at Grand Blanc High School.
They compete against Anchor Bay, Carman-Ainsworth, Grand Blanc, Lake Orion, Lapeer, Midland, Oxford, Port Huron, Romeo, Saginaw Heritage and Waterford Mott. The top four teams advance to the regional meet.
The competition begins at 11 a.m.
