CLARKSTON KIDS WRITING: Food, music, history makes Clarkston special

By Reese Haener

Did you know Clarkston’s Honcho has real Latin food? And that Clarkston has many things to do?

Clarkston is special to me. One reason Clarkston is special to me is downtown Clarkston has many amazing restaurants. Another reason Clarkston is special to me is DTE Energy Music Theatre is a great place to experience your first concert. Additionally, Clarkston is special to me because Clarkston has great education.

One reason Clarkston is special to me is downtown Clarkston has amazing restaurants. Clarkston has restaurants that have amazing food. For example, one time I was at the Woodshop with my family. We were ordering food to eat for dinner. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. After we told her what we wanted, she left and then came back very quickly with them.

Then she asked us what we wanted to eat. The waitress helped tell my dad what something on the menu was and she was on her way back to the kitchen. She came back in a little while and gave us our food. The service was great and she was a great waitress. We were definitely coming here again.

This is why downtown Clarkston has amazing restaurants.

Another reason Clarkston is special to me is DTE Energy Music Theatre is a great place to experience your first concert. One time I was sitting in a seat about 40 rows in front of Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper. I was so excited I couldn’t sit still! It was my first concert!

I looked around and saw a bunch of people. Finally the concert was starting! Cyndi Lauper walked on stage and sang a song. After that Rod Stewart walked on and they sang a song together. I listened to a few more Cyndi Lauper and Rod Stewart songs. The concert was over and I had a great first concert. This is why DTE Energy Music Theatre is a great place to experience your very first concert.

Additionally, Clarkston is special to me because Clarkston has great education. For example, I once went to downtown Clarkston on a field trip with my grade.

We walked and saw different restaurants. While we were walking, we also saw a doctor’s house. We learned that before, doctors would go to a patient’s house instead of the patient going to the doctor’s office. I stopped for a moment to think about what I had just learned. My group started walking so I did too.

Then we walked past the bank. I learned the bank that was now closed used to be a real bank. Going on this field trip helped me learn more about downtown Clarkston. Field trips provide education towards history. This is why Clarkston has great education.

Clarkston is special to me. Downtown Clarkston has amazing restaurants, DTE Energy Music Theatre is a great place to experience your first concert, and Clarkston has great education. This is important because you want to live in a good community.

Clarkston Junior High students Evelyn Dice and Brooke Larkin organized their second-annual Clarkston Kids Writing Contest at Pine Knob Elementary. One of their prizes was publication in the Clarkston News.
