Clarkston rules in last OAA Red dual meet against Lake Orion

DAVISON — The Wolves wrapped up the week setting new school records during the Davison Twilight Classic on Friday.
The Clarkston Boys Track and Field 3,200-meter relay with Wendell Childs, Jaxson Nowik, Cayden DeGrendel and Joshua Ellingsworth took first place. They also achieved an early state qualifying time while also setting a new state record, a new meet record and new school record, finishing in the time of 7:44.58.
Childs also set a new school record in the 400-meter dash with the time of 48.35 for first place.
Ellingsworth finished in first place in the 800-meter run, finishing with a time of 1:58.
The boys team, which finished in second place in the varsity large school division with 117 points also took first place in in the 800-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay events.
The team of Micah Chaney, Hank Hornung, Gabe Van Goor and Lukas Boman finished in the time of 1:30.11 in the 800-meter relay; and the team of Hornung, Chaney, Van Goor and Childs finished in the time of 3:28.81 in the 1,600-meter relay.

Wolves finishing in the top ten places in their events are: in the 800-meter run, Jack Tultz in fifth place in the time of 2:01.11; 1,600-meter run, Nowik, sixth, 4:31.07; Cayden DeGrendel, ninth, 4:32.82; 3,200-meter run, David Dubeck, fourth, 9:50.07; Cooper McNaughton, sixth, 9:59.21; 110-meter hurdles, Malachi Switzer, fith, 16.39; 300-meter hurdles, Switzer, sixth, 42.39; shot put, Benjamin Ankrom, fifth, distance of 47-05; discus, Ankrom, seventh, 132-09; and long jump, Cameron Love, third, 20-08.25;
The 400-meter relay team of Pierce Peruski, Chaney, Hornung and Van Goor finished in fifth place in the 400-meter relay, 43.68.
Grand Ledge finished in first place in the varsity large school division with 168 points; Okemos, third, 102; Davison, fourth, 77; Romeo, fifth, 57; Lapeer, sixth, 51; Mount Pleasant, seventh, 48; and Flint Carman-Ainsworth, eighth, 36.
For the girls team, Allison DeGrendel set new school records in all three of her events while taking first places – finishing in the time of 38.88 in the 100-meter wheelchair adaptive; 1:23.20, 200-meter wheelchair adaptive; and 2:47.98, 400-meter wheelchair adaptive.
Caitlin Poterek also finished in first place during the meet in the 100-meter hurdles in the time of 15.65 to help the girls team finish in third place with 100 points.
Wolves finishing in the top ten places in their events are: in the 200-meter dash, Emma Garner in tenth place in the time of 27.37; 400-meter dash, Keira Zorski, fourth, 1:02.20; 1,600-meter run, Avery DeGrendel, fifth, 5:25.92; 3,200-meter run, Addison Brigham, eighth, 11:47.53; 300-meter hurdles, Poterek, fourth, 47.89; Riley Jurand, eighth, 50.13; shot put, Aydia Bartz, fourth, distance of 33-04; discus, Bartz, tenth, 96-06; high jump, Lucy Dubeck, third, 4-11; Carsey Collins, fourth, 4-09; pole vault, Lily Prainito, fourth, 10-06; tenth, Emery McMurray, tenth, 8-0; and long jump, Ashton Webb, 17-0.75.
Clarkston had two relay teams finish in second place with the team of Skylar Drinkard, Zorski, Garner and Prainito finish in the time of 1:47.36 in the 800-meter relay; and the team of Zorski, Jurand, Poterek and Drinkard finish in the time of 4:13.12 in the 1,600-meter relay.
Okemos finished in first place in the varsity large school division with 143 points; Grand Ledge, second, 107; Davison, fourth, 82; Romeo, fifth, 72.33; Carman-Ainsworth, sixth, 68; Mount Pleasant, seventh, 51; and Lapeer, eighth, 26.67.
The Wolves opened the week winning their OAA Red dual meet at home against Lake Orion, April 30.
The boys team won their meet, 82-46.
Earning points with finishing in the top three places in the track events were: in the 100-meter dash, Hornung in first place in the time of 11.26; Chaney, second, 11.33; 200-meter dash, Hornung, first, 22.56; 400-meter dash, Childs, first, 48.45; Van Goor, third, 51.19; 1,600-meter run, Nowik, first, 4:26.26; 3,200-meter run, C. DeGrendel, first, 9:45.74; McNaughton, second, 10:14.72; Kent Wilson, third, 10:18.67; 110-meter hurdles, Switzer, 16.31; Daniel Hein, second, 18.00; 300-meter hurdles, Switzer, first, 43.41; Chase Gladwish, second, 45.82; and Hein, third, 45.94. Wolves earning points in the field events were: shot put, Ankrom in first place with the distance of 47-01.5; discus, Ankrom, second, 120-09; high jump, Love, first, 19-07; and Boman, second, 19-04.5.
The Wolves finished in first place in three relay events. The 400-meter relay team of Chaney, Hornung, Peruski and Boman finished in first place in the time of 44.29. The 800-meter relay team of Shawn Jordan, Van Goor, Love and Switzer finished in the time of 1:33.14. The 3,200-meter relay team of Childs, C. DeGrendel, Nowik and Ellingsworth finished in 8:21.52.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Jordan, McNaughton, Chase Gladwish and Stevie Reyes finished in second place, 3:54.69; and the team of Trent Logan, Kyler Omelia, Nowik and Dubeck finished in third place, 4:02.23.
The girls team defeated the Dragons, 83-41.

Dubeck, first, 5-0; Elliana Radke, third, 4-08; pole vault, Prainito, third, 9-0; and long jump, Ashton Webb, first, 16-02.
The Wolves finished in first place in two relays. The 400-meter relay team of Garner, Keenan, S. Love and Kaylin Ziemba finished in the time of 52.73. The 3,200-meter relay team of Brigham, A. DeGrendel, Ryske and L. Dubeck finished in the time of 10:26.78.
The 800-meter relay team of Charlotte Koral, Zorski, Drinkard and Prainito finished in second place, 1:48.65.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Poterek, Jurand, A. DeGrendel and Drinkard finished in second place, 4:45.14; and the team of Sofia Ego, Emerson Chapin, Mackensie Meares and Addison Stokes finished in third place in the time of 4:45.79.
The Wolves compete in the OAA Red-White Championship at Lake Orion High School this Friday. Field events begin at 3:30 p.m., the 3,200-meter relay is at 4 p.m. and preliminaries begin following the relay. -W.R.P
