Clarkston tops OAA Blue with first-place finish

The Wolves finished the season as league champs last Friday.
The Clarkston Boys Swim and Dive team finished the OAA Blue in first place with 424 points.
Valen Kurmaniak and Zach Yamanoha finished as All-League in their swim events as Kevin Hardtke and Ryan Putnam finished as All-League divers.

Senior of the Meet Kurmaniak finished in first place in the 50-yard freestyle in the time of 22.52. He is also a state qualifier in the event.
Kurmaniak also finished in first place in the 100-yard freestyle in the time of 49.51.
Yamanoha finished in first place in the 100-yard backstroke in the time of 56.53 and is also a state qualifier in the event.
He also finished in second place in the 100-yard butterfly, 54.16.
Swimmers finishing in the top 16 to earn point for Clarkston include;
Owen Guzal finished in fourth place in the 50-yard freesyle, 23.99; and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle, 53.50;
Owen Brown finished in third place in the 100-yard breastroke, 1:06.25; fifth place in the 200-yard IM, 2:19.52;
Avery Kersjes finished in eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle, 24.79; and 100-yard backstroke, 1:06.93;
Andrew Musson finished in fifth place in the 500-yard freestyle, 5:30.19; ninth place in the 200-yard freestyle, 2:05.61;
Canyon Roodbeen finished in sixth place in the 100-yard breastroke, 1:11.32; and sixth place in the 200-yard freestyle, 2:01.53.
Martin Cordoba finished in eighth place in the 100-yard butterfly, 1:04.73; and in 14th place in the 200-yard freestyle, 2:15.06;
Andrew Craig finished in 11th place in the 200-yard freestyle, 2:08.73; and 12th place in the 500-yard freestyle, 6:10.71;
Zac Montgomery finished in 11th place in the 100-yard breastroke, 1:17.32; and in 13th place in the 500-yard freestyle, 6:17.57;
Craig Popiolek finished in 11th place in the 100-yard butterfly; and 14th place in the 200-IM, 2:37.68;
Trent Schmeling finished in 13th place in the 100-yard backstroke, 1:13.17; and 16th place in the 500-yard freestyle, 6:44.34;
Jackson Lambouris finished in 14th place in the 100-yard backstroke, 1:15.38;
Charles Rowe finished in 14th place in the 100-yard breastroke, 1:18.22; and in 15th place in the 100-yard butterfly, 1:20.35;
Max Atterberry finished 14th place in the 50-yard freestyle, 26.58; and 16th place in the 100-yard butterfly, 1:22.11;
Stephen Catani finished in 14th place in the 200-yard freestyle, 2:15.06; and 17th place in the 100-yard breastroke, 1:21.29;
and Jeffrey Ellingsworth finished in 13th place in the 500-yard freestyle, 6:17.57.
For relay events, the 200-yard medley team with Kurmaniak, Brown, Yamanoha and Roodbeen finished in second place in the time of 1:45.36. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Guzal, Kersjes, Brown and Roodbeen finished in third place, 1:38.24; and the 400-yard freestyle team of Guzal, Kersjes, Yamanhoa and Kurmaniak finished in third place, 3:32.28.
Hardtke finished in first place in 1-meter diving with a score 393.85 after six dives. Putnam finished in third place with 258.55 points, and James Lazar finished in fifth place with 187.45 points. All three are regional dive qualifiers.
West Bloomfield finished in second place at the OAA Blue meet with 424 points; North Farmington, third place, 402; Troy Athens, fourth place, 380; Avondale, fifth place, 108; and Ferndale, sixth place, 80 points.
MHSAA Lower Peninsula Boys Regional Diving is this Thursday and the MHSAA State Finals is March 26-27.
