Cocaine, sawed-off shotgun found in raid

An alleged drug dealer was arrested during a Thursday night raid on 2074 Rattle Dancer Drive, north of Ray Road, in Oxford Township.
Executed by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) and Special Response Team (SRT), the raid happened around 11 p.m. and led to the confiscation of approximately 104 grams (or nearly four ounces) of cocaine, 15 grams of marijuana and a sawed-off shotgun.
Jason Lamar Jones, 31, was arraigned Saturday in Oakland County Circuit Court before Magistrate Marie Soma on the felony charge of possession with intent to deliver cocaine (50 grams or more, but less than 450 grams), two felony counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a short-barreled shotgun (also a felony), and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
If convicted of the cocaine charge, Jones faces up to 20 years in prison. Two of the weapons charges carry a mandatory two-year prison sentence.
He’s currently being held in Oakland County Jail in lieu of posting a $10,000 bond. Jones has a preliminary examination set for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 before 52-3 District Judge Nancy Carniak.
Lt. Joe Quisenberry, head of NET, said Jones was allegedly dealing drugs locally.
A digital scale, packaging materials and cell phone were confiscated during the raid, all of which was considered ‘evidence of intent to distribute,? the lieutenant said.
According to township records, Jones does not own the home on Rattle Dancer Drive. He only rented a room there.
The SRT was called in to help execute the search warrant.
‘There was an elevated risk because of who he was and the fact there were weapons (present),? Quisenberry said. ‘We knew there were weapons in the house.?
The SRT is a highly-skilled, highly-trained group of officers selected from personnel throughout the sheriff’s department. This team responds to critical situations involving barricaded gunmen, high risk warrant arrests, drug raids and civil disturbances.
