Diamond domination

Lady Wolves kick started the season dominating the scoreboard.
They took down Troy-Athens in their first double header and won 12-1 and 10-0.
“We scored lots of runs and didn’t give up any,? said Coach Don Peters. ‘I am very pleased.?
The girls followed it up with three games at the Pinconning Tournament and facing state-ranked teams.
“Gladstone is a defending state champ and Reese’s only lost last year to Gladstone in the Division 3 state finals,? Peters explained. ‘We had a great defense.?
The girls took down Reese, 7-1, but lost to Pinconning, 1-0, and Gladstone, 7-2.
“The girls played very well and battled hard,? said Peters. ‘They withstood the elements because it was cold. After playing top notch pitchers the girls can build on how to work better at hitting during practice.?
They took down Avondale in two games, scoring one run in the first game and four in the second. The Lady Wolves kept Avondale to zero runs.
Bailee Braunreuther was the winning pitcher for the first game, with 10 strike outs and allowing one hit. It was her third win as a pitcher.
The big hitters for Clarkston are Megan Hastings, Sarah Altene, Liz Zezula, and Taylor Hasselbach. Zezula went 2-for-3 against Avondale. Braunreuther went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Hastings went 2-for-3 with a double. had a double and an RBI and Altene went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
The girls host Farmington in their home opener on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
“Farmington has a pretty good team,? said Peters.
They head to the Owosso Invitational on Saturday.
‘We play some more state ranked teams. I am looking forward to the girls playing more good softball and them having fun.?
