Don’t forget the…what’s the word

Oxford resident Alivia Lester sang the first three lines of Kid Rock’s ‘All Summer Long? with ease.
‘It was summertime in Northern . . .,? she paused. The next word was lost, but she knew it started with an ‘m.?
‘Minnesota,? she sang confidently and continued with the remaining words with friend Jolie Tremonti, of Lake Orion, finished the remaining verses and chords.
It was part of the skit,’Don’t Forget the Lyrics.? Girl Scouts from Oxford and Lake Orion performed during Family Night on July 23.
Lester did her part in acting because she really did know the correct word was ‘Michigan.?
The girls chose to do the skit based on the television show.
‘It was something that popped into our minds and what we wanted to do,? she said.
The girls? Program Aid and Junior Leader were judges for the show and chose the winner of the contest.
The winner was ‘Baby,? a character played by Lizzy Anderson, of Lake Orion.
‘Baby wasn’t even a contestant,? explained Lester.
Girl Scouts from surrounding areas joined Lester and her troop at Sister Lakes Camp held at Addison Oaks in Leonard. Everyone participated in skits that night.
Other skits included telling jokes, singing songs, and a sun protection fashion show.
The Girl Scouts began camp earlier in the week and filled the time with archery, swimming, making crafts, to name a few of the many activities.
Their spare time was spent working on their skits.
The scouts set up their tents and stayed the night on Thursday.
‘The older girls went out and pulled pranks,? said Lester.
Lester admitted her and Tremonti didn’t participate in any pranks – they fell asleep before ritual.
‘It was fun,? Lester said after the busy week.
