The Knights of Columbus Council 15967 is getting reading for their Sixth Annual Golf Outing benefitting Drew’s Home of Clarkston on Sunday, Aug. 11.
Drew’s Home of Clarkston is an organization working to establish independent living settings for persons with developmental disabilities. The organization builds or renovates structures in our community to enable special needs adults to live in a supervised yet independent, family-oriented environment.
The first endeavor of Drew’s Home of Clarkston is an apartment complex in Clarkston, where nine residents with developmental disabilities reside with support on the first floor of the complex. Apartments on the top floor of the complex are available for public rental.
Renovations have been made to the complex to allow adults, who are challenged, to live in the apartments. The largest room in one of the apartments is the bathroom where an apartment dweller in a wheel chair is able to utilize all the facilities.
Drew Moscovic, 40, and his friend of over 20 years, Louis (Louie) Donagrande, 39, are transitioning into their apartment.
Pam Jobes, of Quantum Life Care, helps coordinate the residents’ day.
“My goal for Drew and Louie is to make them as independent as they can be,” Jobes said. “I want them to participate in their own life. I want them to have the best life they can have.”
The golf outing is open to the public, with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start at Pine Knob Golf Club. There will be a catered dinner, with chicken and ribs at the Pine Knob Carriage House immediately following the golf outing. Dinner is $35.
Sponsor opportunities are available for holes and prizes as well as raffle items for the golfers. All proceeds will be donated to Drew’s Home of Clarkston, Inc.
