Fearless Faculty Footlighters return to the stage

What do Clarkston High School teachers and organized crime have in common? The answer is that they will both be on stage at CHS Dec. 1-2 as part of the annual comedy performed by the The Fearless Faculty Footlighters.
The Footlighters group is composed mostly of CHS and CJHS faculty, but also staff and students from CHS. The group has performed annually for more than 20 years, with all proceeds going towards student scholarships and faculty needs.
Even though a lot of serious work goes into the annual production, the end goal of the Footlighters is always to have the audience laughing. Rich Erhardt, faculty play coordinator, said the group always chooses a comedy to perform, and this year’s performance ‘Stop and I’ll Catch You? is no different.
‘I’d call it farcical, definitely,? said Erhardt.
‘Stop and I’ll Catch You? tells the story of a female gangster attempting to run a speakeasy, an underground alcohol supply center, during the 1920’s prohibition. As if being a female gangster wasn’t challenging enough, someone is trying to seize control of the speakeasy ? figuring out who is part of the enjoyment of the play, said Erhardt.
The faculty agrees on a play early in the year, and all the work behind the production comes from people at CHS, he said.
‘This year, Jeff Tice’s theater production has helped with the setup,? said Erhardt, adding that the students made general production a lot easier and gave them great first-hand experience for the future.
Both performances of ‘Stop and I’ll Catch You? will take place at the Clarkston High School Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at the door and cost $6 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
