Dozens of vendors will fill the Clarkston Area Farmers Market when it returns for the summer next Saturday.
“We have booked so far for this year about 40 vendors but will end up with about 50 vendors throughout the market season,” said Sylvia Ritchie, market manager.
Vendors signed up so far include nine produce growers; seven soaps, facial, body products, and essential oils dealers; five bread, baked goods, and other foods; four clothing and jewelry; five books, new age, and henna; flower and nursery products; and Italian cuisine.
“New this year includes cut flowers and nursery products, wood cutting boards, leather goods and other clothing items, jams and jellies and more,” Ritchie said. “Returning favorites are always the produce people, salsas, vinegars, the coffee from Essence on Main, herbs, cider slushes.”
Clarkston Independence District Library will present information and it’s World Knitting Day when the market opens on June 9. The market runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 13 at the Clarkston Community Education Center, 6558 Waldon Road.
“We have live music each week that ranges from rock and roll, jazz, and old favorites,” Ritchie said. “We also have people doing demonstrations and sharing information about North Oakland Headwaters, Clarkston Family Gardens, the balloon guy, and chair caning. We will have yoga classes taught by Yoga Oasis returning again this year starting in July and running into September. The special events are always different each week depending who decides to come.”
Musical performances will include:
