Mary Graybiel, 102, of Arizona lived in Clarkston for 22 years and returns home every year.
“It’s to see my beautiful friends and relatives,” said Graybiel. “I love the Concerts in the Park, all the beautiful surroundings, the lakes. They’re so beautiful here.”
She also makes it a point to see her friends at Oakland Town Hall, the speaking series she helped run for about 50 years.
“It’s my baby,” she said. “They have had so many wonderful speakers. George Clooney’s dad, Nick, was a highlight.”
Tips for a long life include God, friends, and family, she said.
“And staying active, playing a little bridge, and being the wife of a football coach (Ed Graybiel, who coached Pontiac Central),” said Mary, mother of four. “I also knit shawls for my church.”
