Kiosk in spring

A balky contractor is the reason installation of a paid-parking kiosk in the city parking lot at Main and Washington has been delayed, City Manager Jonathan Smith told City Council, Dec. 11.
“They have not been returning calls or emails – I’m extremely disappointed with this company,” said Smith, who recommended contracting with a new company to provide the service.
City Council voted on Aug. 28 to approve the purchase from Harvey Electronics and Radio for a total of $9,775. No money has been paid to the company, Smith said.
“The good news in this horror story is we’re in the middle of winter, so we’re not losing a lot of revenue,” Smith said.
A new proposal should be ready early next year, with the service to start by spring, he said.
