League play starts with wins

The Clarkston Varsity Wrestling opened the OAA Red league with two wins at Lake Orion High School, Jan. 8.
The Wolves opened the night, defeating Lake Orion, 48-21. The Dragons won the first four matches to hold a 15-0 lead. During the fifth match, Drew Stark tied the score at the end of the third period in the 189-pound weight class. He won after two overtime periods, 5-4, to put three points on the score board for Clarkston. Jacob Jones (215) won the next match, pinning his opponent with 42.3 seconds remaining in the first period.

Lake Orion and Clarkston traded points in the next two weight classes as the Wolves forfeited in the 289-pound and Dragons forfeited in 103 pounds. Dru Martin (112) tied the score at 21 points making a pin in just over a minute in the first period.
Clarkston won the next five matches with Auggie Anderson (119), Ashton Anderson (130), Owen Masters (135) and Presley Pearce (140) earning six points each on pins.
They continued the night with 65-16 win over Birmingham Seaholm winning nine matches with pins. Stark with a fall, 2:48; Martin (103) with a fall, 1:39; Anderson with a fall, 46 seconds; Masters with a fall, 4:29; Connor Ulrich (145) with a fall, 1:37; Hayden Payne (160) with a fall, 58 seconds; Collin Trevino (171) with a fall, 29 seconds; Frank Davis (215) with a fall, 58 seconds; and Gabriel Gipe (125) with a fall, 51 seconds.
Auggie Anderson had a 15-0 rechnical fall to win his match over Mark Kruszewski and Pearce won by forfeit. They head to Rochester this Wednesday to take on the Falcons and Rochester Adams, 5:30 p.m.
