Letter to the Editor: Looking for more eager scouts

Letter to the Editor: Looking for more eager scouts

Dear Editor,

I would like to tell you about youth scouting activities in our community.
Troop 185G is a troop of 23 girls, sponsored by the Oakland County Sportsman’s Club and Our Lady of the Lakes church. We are doing the same program the Boy Scouts have done for the past 100 years.
Our troop was founded three years ago on February 1, 2019.
I am an eighth grade scout at Clarkston Junior High School. I am currently a life scout, and I’m working towards Eagle Scout rank. I’m excited to plan my Eagle Scout project which will benefit my community.
Our troop has scouts from Clarkston, Lake Orion, and Waterford schools. As a troop, in the first three years we have earned 150 merit badges and 48 other awards. Merit badges help us to learn about sports, crafts, trades, business, and future careers. Our troop has also completed 284 camping nights and provided 185 hours of service to our local community.
We are always looking for more girls to join our troop, girls who like to camp and be outdoors. We can be contacted at joinus@T185.org or to learn more about Scouts B.S.A, visit www.beascout.org

Sincerely,
Claire Beutler
Clarkston
