Letter to the Editor: Reader questions local eatery

Dear Editor,

Last year due to capacity restrictions placed on restaurants due to the COVID pandemic, the Union Joints restaurant group received approval to expand their capacity by utilizing approximately 50 percent on East Church Street.
Even though most of the restrictions have been or will be eliminated, Honcho still has the street blocked off and filled with tables.
It raises two questions for me.
The first question, is blocking Church Street a permanent change?
Secondly, does the Union group pay a rental fee based upon the square footage of land zoned commercial?
Even though Honcho only uses half of the street, it is actually a total blockage since it prevents a normal flow of traffic and is used primarily for access to the parking lot behind the Woodshop.

Sincerely,
Tom Breneiser
