Kristie Mae Owen, a 20-year-old village resident, was arrested after allegedly assaulting a Lake Orion police officer, two ambulance drivers and a relative, Tuesday, March 16, around 1 a.m. Officers responded to Owen’s residence on Hauxwell after receiving several calls from neighbors who reported she was ‘out of control, breaking things and screaming.? According to police, Owen appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She faces a four-year felony charge for kicking an officer in the face, two two-year charges for kicking ambulance drivers, and a domestic assault misdemeanor for kicking her relative ‘with such force that he/she nearly went unconscious.? Owen is lodged in Oakland County Jail on $25,000 cash bond.

You were taught better
A driver at M-24 and Flint Street called police after a student threw a water bottle from a Lake Orion school bus, hitting the driver’s vehicle just after 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 16. The bus was delayed 30 minutes after police, working with the school district, investigated the incident.

Night time visitor?
A man living on S. Broadway called police to report his daughter’s bedroom window had been tampered with, Wednesday, March 17. Police are investigating the incident.

Cosmetic emergency
Police are investigating retail fraud, reported on N. Park Boulevard. A business called to reported tweezers and brush-on nail glue were missing, Wednesday, March 17.

Double drunk
Lake Orion police arrested a 23-year-old man for operating while intoxicated, Thursday, March 18. Officers pulled the man over for a traffic violation around 4 a.m. on M-24 near Heights Road when they noticed the ‘odor of intoxicants,? according to the report. The man, who was in town from Texas to visit friends, failed roadside sobriety tests. His blood alcohol level was 0.15. This was his first offense.

Keep out
Malicious destruction of property was reported at 55 Elizabeth street, March 19, when property owners discovered their air conditioning unit was tipped over at the rear of their building. Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh instructed ‘anyone with no lawful purpose for being there is subject to arrest.? He added police are strictly enforcing private property and trespassing laws.

Sharing with strangers
A 46-year-old township woman said she was harassed by an unknown 40-year-old village woman while at a local drug store, around 5:20 p.m., Friday, March 19. According to the report, the village woman approached the township woman and began spewing out her life story and personal problems when she suddenly stopped talking, then blurted out ‘this is none of your business,? and began making threatening statements to the township woman.

Bogus ‘script
A 59-year-old Taylor woman was arrested for forging a prescription for oxycotton in a local pharmacy around 4:45 p.m., Sunday, March 21. Lake Orion police are investigating the incident further.

Better listen up
A 46-year-old Waterford man was cited for speeding and obstructing police, Monday, March 8. Lake Orion police pulled the man over for speeding when he immediately exited his vehicle and rushed to the officer’s patrol car with something in his hand, according to reports. The officer instructed the man to return to his vehicle three different times and the man responded, ‘No.? The contents of the man’s hand turned out to be a wallet, but the man was cited for being ‘very uncooperative? and refusing to return to his vehicle.

Buzz off
The Lake Orion Police Department joined other law enforcement agencies in attaching their name to a personal protection order against Oakland County’s ‘bee man.? Throughout the county, a 40-year-old man, dressed as a bumblebee, with half a beard, takes photos of officers, prints the photos, and distributes them at other law enforcement agencies with derogatory and obscene messages written on them, according to reports.

Battle of the text’es
A man on Saber Way reported receiving harassing and threatening text messages from his former girlfriend’s new boyfriend, March 13, after the man and his ex began spending more time together.
‘This is a ‘text’book case on why you want to walk away,? said Police Chief Jerry Narsh.

No room at the inn
Lake Orion police arrested three local residents after a fight broke out in the middle of the street at Hauxwell and Jackson, around 8 p.m. Sunday, March 14. A 20-year-old female Hauxwell resident, and one of those arrested, threw three male subjects out of her home after which the fight ensued. The woman and a juvenile man were arrested for disorderly conduct. The woman also had an outstanding warrant in her name. A 20-year-old man, who also had an outstanding warrant, was arrested for assault and battery.
All three were released and not lodged after the arrest because ‘there’s no room at the inn,? said the police chief. ‘We just issued more tickets.?

Taking advantage
A Lake Orion man convicted of a sexual offense was allegedly harassed and threatened with extortion, Monday, March 1, according to reports. Lake Orion Police continue to investigate the incident.

It’s over
A Lake Orion woman filed two complaints in two days against an ex-boyfriend over two days who allegedly hung around her residence on N. Lapeer Street, making threats and yelling obscenities, according the report.

Invest in a bike
Lake Orion police arrested a 22-year-old township man for driving with a suspended license, Friday, March 5. Officers stopped the man for a traffic violation when they found his license to be in suspension. The man also had an open warrant for the same offense in another law enforcement district.

Six teens were asked to leave the Angel Center (former Ehman Center) property on E. Elizabeth Street after they ignored private property signs, Saturday, March 6.

Triple threat
Sunday, March 7, Lake Orion police arrested Jason R. Owens for operating while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and urinating in public. According to the report, an officer saw the 30-year-old township resident urinating next to the street just after 2 a.m. When the officer turned his patrol car around to investigate, he saw a red Camero pull out ‘curb hopping,? and nearly sideswiping a guard rail. The officer pulled the vehicle over and found the driver to be Owens — the same man who was urinating. Police arrested Owens, who had open warrants in other jurisdictions for similar offenses. Owens is being held for a $10,000 cash bond.

Start shoveling
Lake Orion police issued 13 warnings , Wed, Feb. 24, to residents and businesses for violating the village’s snow removal ordinance.

Party’s over
A 40-year-old man was cited for disturbing the peace Friday, Feb. 26 after Lake Orion police visited his residence on Northshore Drive twice in one day, according to reports. The man was playing loud music at 3:20 a.m. and his neighbors phoned police to complain.

The hulk
Lake Orion police were called to a downtown restaurant around 5:30 p.m., Friday, after a male customer allegedly punched a hole in the bathroom door. The man claimed he didn’t punch the door but rather he slipped on the wet floor and hit his hand on the door.

Two beers? Three beers?
After a traffic stop, Feb. 27, Lake Orion police found a 25-year-old Rochester Hills man to be intoxicated while operating as he made his way from a township restaurant. According to reports, the man’s story changed from having two beers two hours ago, to three beers, one hour ago. He failed roadside sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level was .108.

Two for one
A purse containing the owner’s car keys was stolen, Saturday, Feb. 27, from a downtown restaurant. The suspect used the woman’s vehicle remote to gain entry into her car and steal other items, according to reports. -The woman’s ATM card was recently used and a suspect caught on video. Lake Orion police are now on the lookout for a woman in her early 30s or late 20s with long, straight hair wearing a black, puffy jacket.

Cigarettes aren’t worth it
Around 12:30 a.m. Feb. 28, a 34-year-old Lake Orion man was ticketed for driving with a suspended license. Lake Orion police pulled the man over at M-24 and Heights and, when asked for ID, the man told police he left his wallet at home and was just out to buy cigarettes. Details from the man’s story seemed suspicious, and when police ran the man’s name, they discovered his driver’s license was suspended.

Will do what for money?
A woman on Hauxwell was forced to call police, Feb. 15, after receiving harassing phone calls from a man ‘interested in services by the hour.? The calls came as a result of a false ad placed on Craig’s List stating that the woman was desperate for money and would perform ‘services.? The ad was allegedly placed by a man known to the woman, though officers couldn’t find an ad on Craig’s List matching the description.

Not yours
Feb. 15, a Lake Orion resident on North Shore reported identity fraud after discovering a cell phone account in New York was falsely opened using his social security number and driver’s license. According to reports, the account was originally opened in 2007 and had since gone into collection.

‘Don’t open your door?
A woman on Bellevue called police, Feb. 16, with suspicions of a man in a ‘yellow construction-type? vest asking to gain entry to her home. According to reports, the man said he was a government worker studying energy efficencies and electricity usage, though he couldn’t provide ID. The man also asked about daily activities. Lake Orion police encourage residents to use caution in these types of circumstances.
‘Don’t open your door to someone you don’t know,? said Police Chief Jerry Narsh.

Big ol? brawl
In the end, Lake Orion police arrested five people after officers were dispatched to a ‘large fight in progress.?
They were ‘bloody, screaming, hollaring drunk,? said the police chief.
Around 5 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, officers arrived on the 200 block of S. Broadway to stem a brawl involving at least six men and women. Arrests included a 27-year-old township man for disorderly conduct, a 41-year-old village man for disorderly conduct, a 23-year-old township woman for obstruction, a 22-year-old Pontiac man for obstruction and a 27-year-old township man for parole violation.

Don’t know when to quit
An Orion Township woman involved in the previous Feb. 18 incident — but who was not arrested — was delivered home after the fight. An hour later, Lake Orion police responded to disorderly conduct complaints from a village restaurant and found the woman, who had become more intoxicated, ‘passed out? at a table. The woman was arrested, held for detoxification and released later that day.

Put it on my tab
Sat. 20, Lake Orion police tracked town a man, who left his drink tab unpaid at one restaurant, drinking in another. After encouragement from officers, the man paid $50 of his $55 tab in the first restaurant, according to reports.

Scat, skaters
Around 4 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, Lake Orion police dispersed several skateboarders from S. Broadway business after the business called to complain.

What’s that smell?
Police arrived at an apartment on Orion Road to investigate reports of marijuana smoke odors around 9 p.m., Feb. 8. Officers discovered the smell came from a skunk that sprayed, not pot.

Catching some ZZZs
A Lake Orion bank called to notified police of a subject sleeping in an SUV near their back Dumpster, Tuesday, Feb. 9. According to the report, the subject left when the bank opened for the day.

Out for a morning ride
Lake Orion police escorted a man home around 8 a.m., Feb. 13 after finding him fumbling with his bike at Flint and Broadway. According to reports, the man was too drunk to stand, let alone ride his bike.

Love drunk
In the early morning hours on Valentine’s Day, a 27-year-old man was arrested for operating while intoxicated at M-24 and Franklin Wright Boulevard. At the same time, police ticketed a 19-year-old woman for possession of alcohol.

Counterfeit cash
Police are investigating an upcropping of counterfeit $20 bills in Lake Orion. The most recent report of a counterfeit bill came from a business on N. Park Boulevard, according to reports. Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh says the bills are very realistic and have the ‘feel? of legitimate currency. Each bill has the serial number GB17122332A and there is no magnetic strip inside the bill. The Lake Orion Police Department strongly urges area merchants to use counterfeit currency detection pens on all twenty dollar bills before the purchase is concluded.

Missouri drunk
A 44-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 2 for operating while intoxicated. Lake Orion police pulled the woman over after observing her ‘driving erratically? near M-24 and Church Street. The woman showed signs of intoxication and failed road-side sobriety tests, but refused a breathalyzer. Police believe she’s living with someone in Oxford, though her listed address is in Ballwin, MO.

Malicious ex
When police got on the phone, Feb. 4, to tell a harassing caller to knock if off, the caller laughed. Lake Orion police are monitoring the situation on Buena Vista involving a man, his fiancee and the fiancee’s ‘ex.? According to reports. the ex made persistent and threatening phone calls to the man, including five phone calls while an officer was there taking the report.

Crashed party
Five underage adults were ticketed with possession of alcohol, Thursday, Jan. 4 during a ‘loud party? on N. Axford Street. Officers responded to noise complaints from neighbors and discovered two Lake Orion residents, two Oxford residents and one Ortonville resident in a hot tub surrounded by a ‘considerable amount of liquor,? according to police. Those involved were all between the ages of 18 and 20.

The man was taken into custody without incident and held at Oakland County Jail until his arraignment at 52-3 District Court. He has a prior conviction for domestic assault.

At 10:22 p.m., a resident on Newton reported a driver driving recklessly, as well as having run over their trash cans before fleeing the scene. A description of the individual was provided, and when Officers Stanfield and Truesdell reponded to the scene they found subject to be outside of a car at the end of the road. The individual, a 31-year-old Lake Orion man, was screaming at a woman, later determined to be his wife, who was locked in another car along with a small child.
The man appeared to be intoxicated and yelling profanities and threats. Officers approached and ordered the subject to calm down and move away from the vehicle. He proceeded to rip off his shirt and charge at the officers. Officer Stanfield deployed pepper spray after repeated warnings were ignored. The subject still resisted, but was safely taken into custody.
According to Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh, the subject is looking at various charges including operating while intoxicated – second offense, driving with a suspended license – second offense, leaving the scene of property damage accident, resisting and obstructing police, as well as a possible domestic assault charge.
‘These cases illustrate the inherent dangers officers face when called to a domestic or an unknown,? Narsh said, noting that he is happy with the results and tactics his officers employed in taking the subject into custody, as neither officer nor the subject was injured, though the potential for harm was great.

Police assisted a man around 3:50 p.m. who appeared to have passed out on a lawn at 383 S. Broadway St. It was discovered the man had ridden his bicycle from Rochester and was resting.
