Take a ride on the The Love Boat for Independence Township Senior Communty Center’s Bucks for Buses, Wednesday, Sept. 26.
The fundraiser for local transportation, from 5-8 p.m. at Overtyme Grill and Taproom, will include Pacific Princess-themed dinner, dessert, live music, dancing, raffles, and cash bar – cruise wear encouraged.
Silent auction items this year include a $2,650 certificate for an 11-by-14 painted portait by Don Sayles.
“Bidding will start at $260,” Sayles said. “It’s a way for people to have a unique image, a finished painting, like Raphael did back in the day – it’s not like having your picture taken for the sports team. It’s your portrait.”
Township buses provide transportation for senior and disabled adults in Independence and Springfield townships and the City of the Village of Clakston to medical appointments, work, and activities.
Admission is $25 in advance, $30 at the door, $225 in advance for tables of 10. Call 248-625-8231.
