Nonprofit seeks support

The overall goal of the Tree of Dreams organization has always been to support the local Clarkston community.
“We know there are families in need and our goal is to help them provide a positive experience through the holidays for their families,” said Tree of Dreams board member Tracey Wright. “We also do gift cards for the elderly who are often neglected through time. We know we are blessed, and we want others to be, too. We know the value of the Christmas spirit and we want everyone to have this same experience.”
Usually, in non-COVID times, Tree of Dreams hosts a fundraiser the first Saturday of December that includes food, music, and raffles. This year, the event will be held virtually on Dec. 5.
“This is our 20th year doing this fundraiser,” said Wright. “We like to make it a big celebration to support Neighbor For Neighbor. We started with Toys for Tots but found the local need was greater. It is a big event that finds the big hearts in our community. In a normal year, each guest would bring a gift for a child and a gift card for senior citizens. We have had great support from the community in helping us put on this event, by donations, gifts, etcetera.
“Due to COVID, we have found this year people need our support more than ever. This is a very critical time for all, and this year more than ever, we need help. Unfortunately, this year we can’t have gatherings of this magnitude, so therefore, we are trying to raise money through donations as best we can.”
