On track for spring

Clarkston High School Track and Field athletes opened the season at Rochester Adams, April 15.
Andrew Sesti led the pack as he finished in first place in the boys’ 3,200-meter run in the time of 10:03.71. Bryce Nowik finished in sixth place, 11:38.11; and Henry Poploski, seventh, 12:21.29.
Landon Butcher topped the 200-meter dash for Clarkston finishing in first place in the time of 24.47. Mark Palmeter took second place, 24.82; Nolan Puffer , seventh, 26.54; and Glenn Wood, tenth, 27.12.
Finishing in the top five in track events: 100-meter dash, Wood, third place, 12.19; Keehan LaVell, fifth, 12.51; 200-meter dash, Palmeter, third, 56.27; Brock Trevino, fourth, 56.54; 800-meter run, Bo Anderson, third, 2:10.35; Joey Taverna, fourth, 2:18.31; Gunnar Karlstrom, fifth, 2:22.41; 1,600-meter run, Sesti, second, 4:36.29; and Traverna, fourth, 4:57.18.
Drew Radlick led the Wolves in the 110-meter hurdles with a second place finish, 16.94; Robert Spencer, third place, 17.63; and Colin Bastuba, fifth place, 18.72. Spencer finished in third place in the 300-meter hurdles, 45.48; Bastuba, fourth place, 46.67; Radlick, fifth place, 47.09.
Clarkston finished in second place in all four relay races finishing in the time of 47.88 in the 400-meter relay; 1:40.38 in the 800-meter relay; 3:52.24 in the 1,600-meter relay; and 9:20.4 in the 3,200-meter relay.
Ben Haas finished in first place in the shot put and the discus in the field events. He finished with 51-05.75 in the shot put and 134-00 in discus.
Valen Kurmaniak finished in first place in the high jump with 5-08; and Mark Palmeter finished in first in the long jump, 19-06.00.
For shot put, Jamael McKinney finished in third place, 30-09.5; Micah Duffy, fifth, 27-10.25; Nick Waszczenko, seventh, 25-07.50; Cobe Panek, eighth, 23-09.50; and Scott Dobson, ninth, 22-02.25.
For discus, McKinney finished in third place, 79-07; Duffy, fith, 66-11; and Panek, sixth, 52-04.
For the long jump, Nolan Massarello finished in fifth place, 17-00.50; Landon Butcher, seventh, 16-05; and LaVell, tenth, 15-01.
For the girls, senior Mattie Drennan led in the 3,200-meter run finishing in first place, 12:25.21.
Freshman Alexandra Brigham finished in first place in the 1,600-meter run in the time of 5:38.24 as teammates Rebekah Wilson, Kelsey Roth and Lori Wilson took the rest of the top five spots. Rebekah Wilson finished in third place in the time of 5:49.30; Roth, fourth, 6:05.51; and Lori Wilson, fifth, 6:12.27.
Finishing in the top five in the track events for the girls were: in the 100-meter dash, Jurney Harris, second place, 13.76; 200-meter dash, Hepler, fifth, 30.57; 400-meter dash, Shannon Billette, fourth, 1:07.02; Emily Valencia, fifth, 1:07.35; 800-meter run, Alexandra Brigham, third, 2:40.93; Rebekah Wilson, fourth, 2:42.14; and Cotter, fifth, 2:47.68
Madie Carpentier finished in fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles, 18.22; Golab finished in fifth place, 19.37; Karlie Papst, sixth place, 21.06. Brook Perry finished in third place in the 300-meter hurdles, 57.31.
The girls finished the 3,200-meter relay in first place in the time of 10:36.38.
They finished three relay events in second place as they finished in the time of 56.87 in the 400-meter relay; in the time of 2:05.61 in the 800-meter relay; and 4:42.67 in the 1,600-meter relay.
For field events, Phoebe Savoie finished in second place in the shot put, 21-01.5; and the discus, 63-01. Kaitlin Parks finished in fourth place in the shot put, 18-09.75; and in the discus, 38-08.
In the high jump, Lily Kurmaniak finished in second place with 4-08; Madie Carpentier, third, 4-06; and Sammie Carpentier and Emma Larkins tied for fifth, 4-03.
In the high jump, Massey finished in fourth place, 13-10.5; Golab, fifth place, 13-08; Hepler, sixth place, 13-01.75; and Abby Simon, ninth place, 12-08.5.
Clarkston hosts Oxford on Wednesday with events starting at 4:30 p.m.
