The Clarkston Area Optimist Club is very active throughout the community to benefit kids and has provided over $160,000 in scholarships over the years.
This year, 38 Clarkston seniors from three different high schools applied for scholarships, with four from CHS being selected for individual $2,000 awards.
The Henry Richardson Optimist Scholarship was awarded to Allison Osborn, who is furthering her education at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
James Evans Optimist Scholarship: Colleen Walker will be entering Ava Maria University, located in Ava Maria, Fla., this fall.
Andrea Schroeder Optimist Scholarship: Nathan Sesti will be pursuing computer technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Robert Whitcomb Optimist Scholarship: Abbey Tolmie is starting her college career at Central Michigan University in the fall.
