Clarkston’s Independence Day parade is more than 70 years old, originally run by the Independence Township Fire Department.

Judan Nichols takes to his father Dhillon Nichols’ shoulders to watch the parade.

Several community groups, including Clarkston Optimist Club, Mt. Zion Church, Knights of Columbus from St. Daniel Catholic Church, and Clarkston Area Lions Club, took over the parade in 2011.

The Neiman’s Family Market float is decked out in American flags for the parade.
