Over the years, Deana Richardson of Clarkston has taken home Balloon Flowers, Obedient Plant, Chinese Lanterns, Begonias, Bear’s Breeches, Phlox, Helleborus, plus herbs and vegetables from the Clarkston Farm and Garden Club Perennial Plant Exchange.
“Who doesn’t like free plants,” Richardson asked.
Richardson has over 150 varieties of plants in her rural garden. She will bring some plants that are spreading or that need thinning to the June 4 Clarkston Garden Club Plant Exchange and look for some different plant specimens.
“It’s a win-win situation,” she said. “I have spreading plants and I will share with other gardeners and I will be able to choose some other plants that I like for my garden.”
Richardson has many native plants and may include some of those in the plants in the exchange.
The plant exchange will be Saturday, June 4, at 8:30 a.m. in the Village Parking Lot at Washington Street and M-15 in Clarkston. This community event is open to any gardener in the area. It is a “one for one plant exchange.”
Linda Walker, garden club chairperson of the plant exchange, advises individuals to be at the parking lot at 8:30 a.m. as the event lasts about one hour.
