House fire
On Nov. 4 at 5:04 p.m., the Independence Township Fire Department requested the assistance of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigations Unit in the 100 block of South River Drive for a residential structure fire that had occurred.
No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.

Bicyclist struck by vehicle
On Nov. 8 at 7:30 a.m., deputies and the Independence Township Fire Department responded to Clarkston Elementary School for the report of a 13-year-old male student who had been riding his bicycle and was stuck by a vehicle.
Deputies determined that the student had been crossing at a marked crosswalk between a van and a car on Waldon Road and Cherry Lawn Avenue when he was struck. There were no crossing guards on duty at the time.
Paramedics transported the victim to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital, later airlifting him to the Detroit Medical Center.
