THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF INDEPENDENCE
August 31, 2021
A. A Special Meeting of the Charter Township of Independence Board was called to order at 6:02 P.M.
B. The Pledge of Allegiance was given.
C. ROLL CALL: Present: Kittle, Neubeck, Loughrin, Aliaga, Brown, Nallamothu, Ritchie
Absent: None
Also Present Dan Kelly, Township Attorney
D. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approval of Agenda as presented
E. BOARD/PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS: Clerk Neubeck
F. PUBLIC COMMENT: None
G. AGENDA ITEMS INDICATED IN THE CALL OF THE SPECIAL MEETING:
1. Supervisor Appointment
Clerk Neubeck provided candidate responses received regarding intention to run for the position of Supervisor in the 2022 elections.
Clerk Neubeck stated that Terri Nallamothu had withdrawn her application.
The Board heard endorsements for the Supervisor candidates from the following:
Applicant Aliaga:
Milady Martinez; Linda Ybarra-Bozzone; Dorothy Day; Rolando Roland; Jim Rogers; Dave Gittens; Daniel Torres; John Anderson
Applicant Brown:
Jeff McGee
Applicant Stuart:
Kevin Daniels; Sam Moraco; Rae LuAllen; Curt Carson; Bill and Joette Kunse
Other Comments:
Terry Whitney; Forrest Milzow
Clerk Neubeck read endorsements for Applicant Paul Brown from the following:
David Belcher; Wendy Hillman; Pat Kittle; Kevin McIntire; Kimberly Moosekian-Patton; Deanna Olsen; Bob and Peg Roth; Judy Tully; Alan and Janet Whitefield
The meeting recessed at 7:17 P.M.
The meeting reconvened at 7:30 P.M.
Each applicant was provided time to share final thoughts.
Applicant Robert Bauer withdrew his application at 7:39 P.M.
Motion to appoint Paul Brown as the Township Supervisor – Motion Failed
Motion to appoint Dale Stuart as the Township Supervisor – Motion Failed
Motion to appoint Jose Aliaga as the Township Supervisor – Motion Failed
Motion carried to bring the Appointment of Supervisor item back for the September 7, 2021 Regular Meeting.
