Angels’ Place Race’s newest event, the 10K run, was a big hit.
‘We had 77 runners in this 10K event,? said Paul Maxwell.
The 10K event was named in honor of the late Bruce Clifton, who was an integral part of the event the past three years.
More than 360 runners, walkers, and race volunteers participated in the May 21 event, hosted by St. Daniel Catholic Community.
‘What a perfect day for a race,? Maxwell said.
‘The past three years, we have had rain for this event but this year everything came together, even the weather.?
Angel’s Place is a non-profit organization in Southeast Michigan, supporting group homes for adults with developmental disabilities.
The main purpose of the race is to bring people out and raise awareness of individuals with developmental disabilities.
‘The proceeds from the race go to support Angels’ Place group homes,” he said. “My ultimate goal is to build or refurbish a home in the Clarkston Community for Angels? Place. My hope is the Clarkston Community would embrace this endeavor. The St. Daniel Catholic Community has been so supportive of our efforts.”
Each year they provide the facility, many volunteers, and advertise it through church communications.
Maxwell also thanks the entire Clarkston community, especially Oakland County Sheriff Independence Sub Station, City of the Village of Clarkston, Clarkston DPW, and Independence Township and Fire Department.
