Runners split season start

A windy, chilly Tuesday night did not keep the track teams from competing in their first meet of the season.
Looking to repeat another championship win this year, Clarkston girls won the meet against West Bloomfield, 71-48.
The boys team lost, 73-46.
‘It was a good start to the track season,? said girls coach John Yorke.
‘Our distance runners did well and led the team. Kristen Smith had a good meet. Devon Rehm had a big day as a thrower in shot put and discus.?
Kristen Smith placed first in the 800-meter run (2:32.2) and 3200-meter run (12:09.5).
Clarkston relay teams led the way in the relay events; 3200-meter relay Jena Manilla, Caitlin Post, Annie Castillo, and Andrea Butler (11:12.6); 1600-meter relay Jena Miller, Smith, Kristin Cross, and Butler (4:38.6); 400-meter relay Catie Boskee, Rebecca Culver, Johanna Kupe, and Stephanie Thorstad (55.72).

Manilla and Autumn Touchstone took first place in two dash events. Manilla in 400-meter dash (68.4) and Autumn Touchstone in 200-meter (28.3).
The boys team also placed in first in some of their events.
Jeff Kuhl placed first in the 1600-meter (5:00.4) and 3200-meter run (10:50.3).

Placing first for relays were the team of Phil Voorheis, Zac Moore, Christian Bonzheim, and Kuhl in the 3200-meter relay (9:15.8); and the team of Steve Foreman, Matt McCord, Voorheis and McDougal in the 1600-meter relay (3:57.1).
The teams next meet is next Tuesday at Rochester Adams.
